This past week, part of the ENX2 Crew attended the very first Wilkes-Barre Connect Conference. The event had an outstanding number of attendees including local entrepreneurs and students, and even representatives from large corporations like MIT Solve and Microsoft. The Wilkes-Barre Connect Conference showed that many people of Northeastern Pennsylvania have a passion to change a coal region, including our very own CEO Nicole Farber.

With well over 200 in attendance for the 3-day event, some of the ENX2 Crew were able to witness the creative storytelling and presentations from the areas best students, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and young professionals that are transforming NEPA. Nicole had the honor to speak on two panels titled, “Why Northeastern Pennsylvania?” and “Find Your Passion.” Nicole helped kick-off day two of the conference along-side the ‘Connect Avengers’ ( a very fitting name given to 7 local entrepreneurs by Joseph Boylan, Executive Director of Wilkes-Barre Connect) on the topic of “Why NEPA?” The panelists spoke on their personal experiences that led them to start their journey in entrepreneurship.

During the “Find Your Passion” panel, Nicole shared her powerful journey as an entrepreneur and the secret to her success…surrounding herself with brilliant, capable people and learning from them. Joining Nicole in this panel was Helen Lavelle of Lavelle Strategy Group. Both women truly embodied passion as the room was left hanging onto every word as they shared their emotional journeys with the attendees.

ENX2’s Social Media Marketing Assistant Mariah Curtis and Junior Graphic Designer Nick Insinga had the opportunity to speak on a panel titled “The Importance of Student Engagement.” Mariah and Nick shared the panel with four other fellow students where each panelist shared their unique experiences with student engagement and their involvement with Wilkes-Barre Connect. Nick and Mariah were fellow student ambassadors and co-hosts for the Wilkes-Barre Connect Podcast – Student Edition where they interviewed over two dozen young professionals, students, and entrepreneurs, including Nicole.

The conference concluded with the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber Annual Dinner – “Accelerate: Designing our Future” – at Mohegan Sun Pocono. The attendance of over 600 business professionals joined in celebrating the 15 honorees including Mariah, Executive Assistant to the CEO Emily Sutton, Nicole, and Nick.
